Education Minister Advises Employers To Verify Certificates Before Appointment
Business News — Professor Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa’i, Nigeria’s Minister of Education, has advised labour employers to verify any certificate before appointment letters are issued.
The minister disclosed that the certification verification unit of the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) is active and can be consulted at any time for clarification.
Rufa’I, who gave the warning in Abuja at the post 2012 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) teachers retraining workshop review meeting, reiterated that the FME is worried about the poor quality of education in the country in terms of delivery and outcome.
Government, she said, has set an agenda to continue to address the problem of quality in the education sector with the view to ensuring that teachers’ training and retraining are given priority this year.
She said: â€The bottom-line of the training is to equip teachers with basic skills and knowledge that will enable them to improve on their professional practices.â€-TheNation
